Ancient Chinese Terracotta Tomb Brick called a MINGQI. Dating from the Song Dynasty960-1279. These objects were placed in burial chambers to serve or entertain the deceased. This piece depicts a female musician. The instrument she is holding is called  a Sheng, a traditional Chinese mouth organ. Her elaborate hairstyle is charcteristic of female figures found in tombs from the Tang and Song Era.
