Vintage Australian 1929 Wedding Photo Mr & Mrs McEwen Birchip Large Studio Portrait on Card
Original 1929 wedding portrait of Mr & Mrs McEwen, taken at The Burlington Studio in Melbourne, Victoria. The bride was Miss Bennett, and the couple married at Birchip, Victoria. More information about the McEwen–Bennett marriage will be provided to the buyer on request. This sepia-toned silver gelatin print features the couple in full wedding attire: the bride wears a delicate drop-waist gown, elaborate lace-trimmed veil and stunning headpiece, holding an enormous cascading bouquet of roses. The groom stands beside her in a formal suit with boutonniere and bow tie. The photo is mounted on its original Burlington-stamped heavy card measuring approx. 10 x 12.5 inches, with the image itself approx. 6 x 8 inches. Dated February 27th, 1929 on the reverse, this is a well-documented and display-worthy interwar-era Australian wedding photo with full provenance.
The Burlington was a known Melbourne-based portrait studio, active in the 1920s and 1930s. They specialised in formal wedding and society portraits, often printed in sepia tone and mounted on textured or embossed matte boards.
Good to very good condition as shown. Light corner wear to card, photo itself clean. Photographs you will receive are authentic, original images. The condition of secondhand items is often subjective to individuals and occasionally small marks or issues may be missed. Please check the photos carefully as they form part of this description and can more accurately describe this item than any blurb I might write.
