A charming piece of vintage Mexican folk art pottery from Tonalá, Jalisco - a hand-painted pottery flower frog or floral arranger in a distinctive flat-backed disc form. Multiple holes across the top and sides hold flower stems for creative arrangements. The flat-backed form stands upright on a shelf or displays beautifully against a wall, making it as decorative as it is functional.
Beautifully decorated in the classic Tonalá palette of blue-gray, terracotta red, and cream on a buff ground, with hand-painted songbirds, stylized florals, scrollwork, and berry clusters rendered with confident, fluid brushwork. The reverse side features a petatillo-style crosshatch panel framed in blue-gray bands - a traditional Tonalá decorative element.
No maker's mark on base - consistent with unsigned Tonalá export pottery of the mid-to-late 20th century.
