Authentic Japanese Woodblock Print by Hasegawa Sadanobu III – Signed Uchida Edition – Framed Kabuki Warrior

A striking and authentic preserved mid-20th century Japanese hand-pulled woodblock print by renowned Osaka-school artist Hasegawa Sadanobu III, depicting a dramatic Kabuki warrior figure from the celebrated play Yanone. Richly colored and beautifully composed, this work captures the expressive intensity and stylized movement associated with traditional ukiyo-e theater prints.

This vintage example was published by the respected Uchida Art Company of Kyoto, Japan, known for producing fine traditional woodblock editions during the Shōwa period for collectors and galleries. The print retains multiple authenticating details including artist signature and seals, publisher cartouche, impressed inventory number, “Made in Japan” export marking, and visible woodblock impression throughout the paper.

Upon careful examination outside the frame, the print was confirmed to be a genuine hand-pulled color woodblock on traditional washi-type paper with naturally deckled edges and visible embossing from the carved blocks. The reverse image is softly visible from the verso, a characteristic often seen in authentic woodblock printing.

The work was originally housed under glass in its vintage frame and has now been carefully preserved using archival-conscious materials. The original frame, linen mat with gold border, and glass are included and preserved. The print has been remounted with acid-free archival photo corners and protective backing for improved long-term conservation while maintaining its original presentation.

A refined and highly displayable example of Japanese Kabuki woodblock art — equally suited for collectors of ukiyo-e, Asian decorative arts, or sophisticated interior spaces.
