A b/w photo of Major Bob Cardenas standing on top of the Arado Bomber 234. Taken somewhere between 1945 and 1946. When Major Bob was captain, he was shot down over Germany in March 1944. After he was rescued, he was promoted to Major and then became Chief of the Bomber Operations Section at Wright Field, Ohio. He was the key figure in the supersonic Bell X-1 project and by the early 1950s he had moved on to other projects like the YB-49 Flying Wing. The images measures about 7.25x9.25". B/W photo has a silver mirroring to it.
On the photos are the signatures of some of the best pilots and engineers including Maj. Burt Askounis and Maj. Harry Townsend. This photo was likely the "Experimental Engineering Labatory" flight test crew but I am not able to confirm it.
The following autographs are (there are names I could identify):
Maj. Bob Cardenas
