British Rail Motive Power 1981-2004: Volume 17
Now into our eighth year of production, the period covered now includes the first four years of the 21st century. As previously, it’s all unused and unseen archive railway film, starting in 1981, now covering until 2004 - all recorded with the original audio on tripod-mounted cameras.
Highlights of Volume 17 include:
South West: 47s and 50s at Plymouth, Teignmouth and Dawlish in 1987, 1989, 1991 and 2001 plus 50s around Exeter St. David's, arriving, departing and coming from the depot.
North Wales: Anglesey and some traditional railway practices from 1990 with 47599 at Holyhead, 37s in 1999 and more 47s from the early 2000s including RES and former GW locos.
Oxfordshire & Berkshire: Back to 1983 with 47s and 50s, 56049 passes Radley in 1990, early 47/8s, 47803 & 47820 at Oxford and Reading in 1990 and 47314 with a passenger train.
Midland Mainline: Footage from the 1980s at the familiar locations of Wellingborough, Kettering and Market Harborough with various 45/1s and HSTs working to/from St Pancras.
Midlands: Wolverhampton and Stafford in 1999 - before the Pendolinos - with all Euston services in the hands of 86s, 87s and 90s in push/pull mode plus 47s on Cross Country and 37s to/from North Wales.
Sheffield-Leeds-Carlisle in 1982: With rumours circulating that the Settle and Carlisle line was going to close, this was a day trip behind 47406 'Rail Riders'. Passing a great variety of locos and DMUs along the way, this was the S&C at its lowest point, run down with many stations long closed, but the viaducts and tunnels remained, making it a memorable day of loco-hauled action.
So much more than just trains passing the camera!
