This auction is for a vintage, discontinued AMT® Models plastic scale model kit. This model kit is somewhat rare, and in Very Good Overall Condition, with ‘BAGGED & TREED’ PARTS in the Original (opened) Factory Retail Display Box!

 This Model Kit is from a private collection of over 1000 vintage Model Kits, Dealer Promotionals, and Pro-built Models. The Model Kits in this collection avoided the trauma of being hauled to swap-meets and flea markets. This Model Kit wasn’t being handled and 'poked-thru' by dozens of shoppers while left sitting unattended on a table, baking in the hot summer sun.

The Model Kits in this collection haven’t been shipped back-and-forth after being sold numerous times. After being purchased, this vintage Model Kit was opened for inspection, then placed on a shelf waiting its turn to be assembled, so it should be complete. Unless stated in the auction description, the box is in decent to above-average condition, and this vintage kit hasn’t been started, parted, altered, painted, or assembled. 

These Vintage scale model kits will keep getting rarer and more valuable over the years. This is a vintage model kit in the original factory box which overall, is in above-average condition with decent graphics. New model kits cost $30-$40.00. These newer ‘reissues’ being sold look attractive, but these ‘reissues’ may be lacking some of the details, custom parts, and authentic racing accessories that were found in the manufacturer’s ‘original’ and/or ‘annual’ scale model kits.

It is my intention to present this vintage model kit as accurately as possible in descriptions and hi-res color photographs. So, you’ll know exactly what is being sold, and exactly what you’re buying.

Because the box is opened, it is necessary here to add ’As-Is’ / ‘No Returns’ designations to the auction description to be up-front with Bidders so they know that they are (a) bidding on exactly what is being shown here, and (b) once shipped, parts might ‘disappear’ from the unsealed box, so the kit is not returnable. Fact: Originally, Scale Model Kits were all sold in unsealed boxes. AMT®   Corp. did not even add UPCoding until sometime in the ‘90s.

While fairly confident that the model kit includes everything you will need to build the model, Seller makes no guarantees that this Model Kit is complete. Please take time to examine the hi-res color photos that document the condition of the factory box and its contents. Everything in the box is documented in the auction photos. If it’s not in the photos, it’s (probably) not going to be in the box.

 As I photograph each kit, I assemble things together as a group, as if I were planning to build the model. If I'm aware of any missing parts, that will be noted in the description, or the remainder of the kit will be advertised as a 'parts box'. Honesty is the best policy.

Carefully examine the enclosed hi-res color photos before bidding on this Item. Although factory-sealed bags were not opened for photos, each parts-tree, or individual part that is in the box has been photographed for your personal inspection in order to accurately document the box & contents being auctioned.

FYI: This Open Box model kit can’t be returned for any reason, or no reason at all. This is being sold ’As-Is’ because the box has been opened. Returns are NOT accepted! If you decide to BUY it, you decide to OWN it.

Full disclosure (1) When you get to the point where you have over 6,000 model cars, you too will find a need for some form of inventory control just like I did. The photos show that there are ModelCzar labels applied to one end of the box indicating ModelCzar© provenance. Label usage facilitates scanning & locating items in a large, diverse model inventory. Bidders be advised that these were applied previously, so they were already there.

They are high-quality Avery® brand labels. They can be removed without damage to the box. (a) apply a WARM hair-dryer to label and allow the adhesive to warm slightly (will take approx. 2-3 min.) (b) While applying the heat, pull GENTLY, starting with a CORNER and they usually will peel off with minimal, or NO damage. Ease of removal was checked before using them. The labels come off easier than the glued price tags used by retail stores.

The inventory labels were placed on the end where the box was ‘least attractive’. Sometimes, those old adhesive price stickers, scuff marks, or other damage had already marred that end of the box before it was added to the collection. If you are a ‘box collector’ seeking perfection, I understand the concept, but please, seek perfection elsewhere. 

Full disclosure (2) There will be NO RETURNS! This kit was described as: ‘Open Box' / ‘As-Is’ / ‘as-described’ / ‘as-photographed’. What you saw in the hi-res color photos is exactly what you'll get. Nothing more.

Unscrupulous Internet Trolls won’t be able to buy this item, remove or ‘substitute’ parts, or even ‘damage’ something; and then, be allowed to return the kit they pilfered for a refund. Once it’s been shipped, there are NO Returns offered, or Refunds available on this Item!

Full disclosure: (3) Paper boxes, decals, and printed instructions will fade from exposure to light. A 40-year-old paper decal will discolor or get brittle simply from age. That possibility exists because of the age of decals in this kit. These are common issues that all modelers have learned to work around, and experienced modelers know that decals and instructions can be reproduced.

Full disclosure: (4) Plastic parts can warp, discolor, or stain, just as rubber parts can (and will) distort, stiffen up, or soften. Skilled modelers will know how to repair or work around these common issues we’ve all had to face. 

Full disclosure (5) Plastic 'glass' and body parts may have scuffing due to movement in box. In most cases, plastic can be polished-out, or the body parts usually end-up covered with paint anyway. Please remember that these are vintage model kits. And similar to the vintage vehicles they’re modeled after - even when taken care of - nothing that’s 40-50 years-old is going to be perfectly perfect.

Full disclosure (6) Like you, I did not pack the box at the factory; even when new, a model kit could be missing a part, or it could have an extra part. Remember: people pack boxes, and people are known to make mistakes.

Seller having voluntarily provided this detailed information to a prospective purchaser, it is the Bidder’s responsibility to determine that this vintage, 'Open Box' (unreturnable) model kit fits their modeling needs and skill level before bidding, or buying it.

This kit was/is intended for experienced builders. If you're at all unsure that this Item matches your skill level, please refrain from buying it until you are comfortable in making the purchase. The goal of any auction should be a mutually-satisfying transaction.

If you decide to bid on this Item, you are acknowledging that you've examined the hi-res color photographs of the box and contents that clearly shows exactly what you’re bidding on, and you understand and agree with the following conditions:

(a) Open Box model kits are sold 'As-Is' and can’t be returned for any reason, or no reason at all. This is an opened box. Returns will not be accepted! When you decide to BUY this Item, you must decide to OWN It.

(b) If this Item is lost or damaged in-transit, it will be up to the Buyer (who now holds title to the Item) to request a copy of the shipping receipt and return their damaged item to their local USPS location for remediation and/or financial restitution.

It makes NO sense to ship a damaged Item back and forth when the damage can be verified and restitution can be done locally. Plus, you will get your money back faster by dealing directly!

(c)    Seller bears no responsibility if the factory missed a part, or something essential to the build has gone missing from a box that was previously, opened and documented in color photos.

(d)   Unscrupulous Internet Trolls are known to remove or ‘substitute’ a part, ‘accidentally’ damage something, and then, they want to return the kit they pilfered for a refund. Honesty is a two-way street! Slight-of-hand trickery won't be tolerated in a ModelCzar© transaction.

When you decided to BUY it, you decided to OWN it.

ü   Being a Collector, I pack like a Collector would want their Item packed to insure safe delivery of an irreplaceable Item.

ü   Considering the Seller's time & money invested in listing, invoicing, weighing, packing, materials costs, and trips delivering items to the shipper, the S&H portion of an online transaction is not in any way, the least bit profitable!

  ‘COMBINED’  SHIPPING

Combined shipping is available over a seven (7) day period under these conditions:

The Buyer must tender payment for the first Item within 4-days after the first auction ends 

(a)                The Buyer must notify Seller of Buyer’s intent to combine shipping with another item 

Or,

(b)  The Buyer must contact Seller to request a total invoice for the combined S&H costs.

Sorry! 'Combined' Shipping is not available on the extremely large 1/8^th scale kits due to the 'risk' factor, the shipping co$t, and the overall size-of-packaging constraints.

  INSURANCE  COVERAGE

Vintage model kits are hard – if not impossible – to replace. Every Item will be shipped USPS ‘Priority’ mail and 'Fully Insured' against the possibility of shipping damage or the chance of being lost while in-transit. Whatever may happen, everyone recoups their money.

  SHIPPING  DAMAGE

 This Item is fully insured. Upon payment, title transferred from the Seller to the Buyer. It now becomes the Buyer's obligation to return their item to their local USPS location for restitution if something happens due to the actions of the shipping contractor.

 It makes NO sense to ship a damaged Item back and forth when the damage can be verified, and restitution can be done locally. Plus, you usually get your money faster by dealing directly!

NO RETURNS!

(a)    None. This Item: was clearly advertised as: 'As-Is', opened box Model Kit with No Returns accepted multiple times up until now.

(b)   Hi-res color photos of the box and its contents were provided to the Buyer showing everything that was included in the auction. If it wasn’t shown in the photos, it wasn’t included in the auction.

(c)   Seller bears no responsibility if the factory missed a part, or something has now gone missing from a box that was described as “previously opened” once the Item leaves the Seller’s control.

(d) Trolls remove or substitute a part, or damage something; and then, they expect to be allowed to return a Model Kit they pilfered?

WARRANTY

ü   None. While Seller expressed confidence that the model kit included everything, Seller made no statement anywhere in the auction description indicating that this Model Kit was complete.

ü   Except as expressly set forth in the item description, Seller makes NO express or implied warranties of any kind whatsoever about this merchandise.

ü   Seller is not responsible for any consequential, incidental, or punitive damages of any kind whatsoever.

ü   Seller's liability is limited to the amount paid by the Buyer (including the shipping & handling charges.)
