Plane Prototype History:
The Italian Macchi C.202 Folgore Fighter Was The Main Fighter Aircraft Of The Italian Air Force During World War II, Designed By Designer Mario Castoldi Based On The Mc.200 Lightning Fighter. The For Fiat A.74 Star Air-Cooled Engine Used In Its Predecessor MC.200 Could Only Provide 870 Horsepower, Severely Limiting Its Performance. Designer Castoldi Firmly Believes That Replacing High-Power Inline Liquid Cooled Engines Is The Only Way Out. Thanks To Its Alliance With Germany, Italy Obtained The Production License For The Daimler Benz Db 601 Liquid Cooled Engine, Which Was Manufactured By Alfa Romeo Under The Model "Ra.1000 R.C.41", Becoming The Heart Of Folgore Fighter. To This Day, There Are Still Two C.202 Survivors Worldwide, Displayed At The Italian Air Force Museum And The Smithsonian National Air And Space Museum In The United States.
