Vintage
ALTENEDER Drafting / Engineering Tool. “Spacing Dividers”
or “Equal Space Divider” Model 1720. Used to divide lines or spaces into equal
parts, this is one of their earliest versions as denoted by the arching shape
of the name engraved on the tool. Made in the USA (Philadelphia) by America’s premier drafting
tool maker, it is also called an “Eleven (or Ten??) Point Divider”. Measuring nearly 12 ½ ” top to bottom when
closed, it opens to maximum width of over 19”. In excellent, very lightly used, condition it very
cleanly shows that arched ALTENEDER name engraved on one side and numbers on
the points. Coming to you in its
original box with the original (and still nice) ALTENEDER
seal on the inside bottom. The points (very sharp!) and the entire mechanism is
stainless
steel. Very useful in certain
drafting or shop applications. Not a common version (or size) and it will make
a great addition to your collection or workroom.
