An impressive Regency period mahogany longcase clock, signed W. M. Smith of Leith, dating to circa 1840. The hood is surmounted by a broken scroll swan-neck pediment, supported by twin fluted pilasters, and frames a finely painted arch dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, and a date aperture.

The arch dial also features twin winding holes for the brass four-pillar eight-day weight-driven movement, which strikes the hours on a bell. The clock is further enhanced by a flame mahogany trunk panel, set within a paneled box base resting on turned feet, showcasing elegant Regency proportions and craftsmanship.
