Vintage pocket aneroid barometer and altimeter made by Taylor Instrument Company, Rochester, New York — one of America’s most respected scientific instrument makers, in operation since 1851 and a key supplier of precision instruments during WWII. This is the Stop Bar model, serial G-614. The dial reads barometric pressure in inches of mercury (25-31 inches) and altitude in feet (0-6,000 ft), with temperature compensation noted on the face. The rotating outer bezel allows the user to set a reference point for altitude tracking. The needle is responsive and functional. Case shows age-appropriate wear consistent with a working instrument of this era. Dial face is intact and legible. No glass cracks. No case included. A clean, functional example of American precision instrument making — appropriate for collectors of antique scientific instruments, surveying tools, or vintage meteorological equipment.
