Vintage Marantz CD Player CD110 with Remote - Repair was attempted but issues persist

Cosmetically, it has multiple scratches (see pics)

Testing:

Player powers on and has been tested with multiple CDs.

- Successfully reads TOC and can sometimes play a full CD

- Frequently has difficulty returning to Track 1

- Skips between tracks or can’t start playing a particular track

- Playback may skip or fail to read on subsequent attempts

- Performance varies depending on the disc and even with the same disc

- Performance seems to degrade over time

Laser lens has been cleaned and the mechanism lightly serviced (rail lubricated), but the issue persists. Based on testing, the player likely has a weak or aging optical pickup or related tracking issue.

Remote control:

-was cleaned of corrosion in battery compartment

-does not seem to work even with fresh batteries

-has no battery cover
