This is a rare piece. This was called a barrel or jar salt shaker.  It was not part of a salt and pepper shaker set.  This is the salt shaker that sat on the bar to shake salt into your beer foam. The Ernst Fleckenstein Brewery was in operation from 1856 to 1964.

This is 3 3/4" tall and measures 1 3/4" in diameter. 

As you can see in the pictures, there is some paint loss on the cap, but this is still a great collectible old piece of breweriana.
