VINTAGE HAND CRAFTED? US NAVY BUTTON CUFFLINKS N496

These cufflinks, which are unmarked and unsigned, feature slightly different versions of US Navy buttons. While the front is somewhat different, the backs show that actual buttons were used with the same cufflink securing mechanism, showing a possible hand crafted origin.

Note the eagles face different directions. According to an internet search:

Since May 14, 1941, U.S. Navy uniform buttons feature an eagle facing to its right (the viewer's left), which is the "honor" side (dexter) in heraldry. Prior to this, Navy buttons featured an eagle facing to its left (from 1852 until 1941).
