This fabulous 1930s Art Deco ring is by Ostby & Barton.  In a fine gold setting characteristic of the high Deco period, an old European cut ruby, probably lab-grown, is bezel-set in the center.  The inside is stamped "OB 10K."  Size 9 3/4

In 1879 Engelhart Ostby formed a partnership with Nathan Barton. The firm became the world's largest producer of gold rings. In 1912 he decided to return from one of his many European trips on the Titanic, carrying with him his old doctor's bag he always used when traveling, filled with gems, precious stones, and other valuables that he had bought in Paris. Unfortunately, he never made it back, as he went down with the Titanic. The business continued into the 1950s.
