You're looking at the Gran Turismo 5 PS3 Press Kit — a highly collectible, very limited media-only promotional package sent to journalists and reviewers before the public release of Gran Turismo 5 in late 2010.
It’s often confused with the “Signature Edition,” but it’s entirely separate and much, much rarer.
Here’s a detailed breakdown:
Purpose:
Distributed exclusively to gaming media, reviewers, and press outlets ahead of the GT5 launch. It was never sold to the public.
The press kit came in a large metal tin box, housed in a white cardboard slipcase and an outer box.
Contents:
Metal Tin Box
Brushed aluminium-style presentation.
Embossed Gran Turismo 5 logo on lid. Note this is black, like the tin, and not white like the signature edition.
Felt or foam interior tray.
Two Discs
Disc 1: Gran Turismo 5 Review Code – a pre-release PS3 build for reviewers.
Disc 2: Media Information Disc – contained high-resolution screenshots, press materials, logos, and the official press release.
Art / Concept Book
Glossy booklet with car renders, track artwork, and development info.
Sometimes titled “Gran Turismo 5 Artworks” or similar.
GT Keyring
High-quality metal or enamel GT-branded keychain.
The “Review Code” disc will often not boot on regular retail PS3s; it required a debug/test console.
“Media Information” disc is a standard data DVD readable on PC/Mac.
The presentation and production quality were exceptional — Sony used it to make a strong media impression after GT5’s long delay.
