Authentic Antique Vintage Rural Australian Studio Portrait  c1918 Ivy & Oliver McEWEN by Richards& Co Studio

A charming vintage mounted studio portrait of siblings Ivy McEwen (born 1909) and Oliver McEwen (born 1915) of Chirrup, Victoria. This photograph was taken at Richards & Co Studios, Ballarat around 1918–1919, when Oliver was about 3 years old and Ivy about 9. The portrait measures 3 x 4 inches on its original mount (overall size approx. 5.5 x 8 inches). On the reverse is an inscription reading "To Aunty Maggie, Ivy & Oliver McEwen", which connects the photograph to their aunt, Margaret Glover of Wagga Wagga. This original studio portrait is a fine example of early 20th century rural Australian family photography and will appeal to collectors of RPPCs, Ballarat photography, genealogy ephemera, and those with ties to the McEwen or Glover families.
