This is a pre-owned antique item being sold as is in acceptable survivor condition with wear and patina commensurate with age and use

Item measures approximately 6.25 x 5.5 x 1.25 inches in its maximum dimensions. 

The patent dates to 1902, so one can assume this was made shortly thereafter and in use for a span of years before being retired.

The mounting brackets are still in place on the frame, the original brass mechanism is in place and functioning, the original dial and button are functioning, and the original glass is in place although it is badly chipped.

There is grease/oil as well as the smell of workshop on this item.

The top left of the"window frame" holding the glass is dented, but appears to have been so for quite some time.

There is uneven patina,wear, and oxidization on the front and back.

Instructions for use are included in the photos. A full 360° rotation clockwise and then pointing approximately North by Northwest on the compass followed by a counterclockwise rotation to point roughly Southwest by West and the latch is unlocked.

This lock mechanism was designed to be adjusted, I do not know if it will shift during shipping.  If it does it can be figured out by retightning the screw backing and just looking at the wheels rotating until they're lined up.
