This brass spyglass has a leather grip and features a removable brass cap at the objective end. Research seems to indicate that this is a reproduction of an antique spyglass — it is still likely vintage, or 20 plus years old. The wooden case is well done with brass fittings and corner reinforcements, making the unit very suitable for gift giving, although there are a few scratches and some evidence of light wear. I have no information on the degree of magnification of this glass. It’s four inches long and the case is about 5 x 2 1/2 x 2 inches. I'm impressed by the clarity of the images I can get with this glass (being a picky bird watcher with top shelf German glasses).
Pirate Blackbeard was decapitated and his head hung on a ship's bow sprit. A cautionary tale for modern day spyglass users.
