This 3000 is very clean and shows no corrosion or pitting, the antenna is straight and complete, close to museum quality.

 It plays strong with great tone and is without and microchips or PC boards so it is EMP proof. 

I have replaced the capacitors in this radio as this restores the sound and sensitivity in these old radios as the capacitors are old and many are not operating properly. This makes a world of a difference in the sound. I have in included pictures of this operation.

I replaced the light bulbs with new bulbs as one of the old bulbs was burned out. With the exception of new caps it is original and unaltered making it a true collectors item. Many of these are cobbled and modified to try to make them modern with LEDs and rechargeable brick batterys, sigh.

Radio was aligned and tuned for best reception and sound. Take it outside at night for best SW reception, homes today are so full of interference and RF noise.

I cleaned the insides and the outside of the radio and it is in a smoke free house at the present time.

I battery box is like new, no batteries were ever left in this box to corrode, something of a miracle. This radio takes 8 D cells for the radio and 1 D cell for the light. I recommend using AA cell to D cell adopters and using Energizer Lithium AA cells as they will be much lighter and a big improvement from the old zinc carbon dry cells from the 50's. The carry handle will thank you as will your wallet. The radio uses approx.  30 mA when playing and as a lithium AA cell has over 3000 mAh it will play for well over 80 hours on a set of these. This is what I run in my personal radio.

I have 4 of these radios left on my repair shelf and will be selling them over the next weeks. I have enjoyed restoring these old classics for years but age is limiting my ability to continue.
