Antique Silver Box German 800 Silver Biennais Cupids
This is a German solid silver box of .800 fine silver. It is a rendition of a French box with pseudo French marks. The top looks repousse, but it is actually cast, or stamped. The banding on the side is stamped decoration, not done by hand. The bottom has a pseudo French hallmark, and a faux Martin Guillaume Biennais mark. Even though it’s a reproduction, it is still a beautiful box, and a great example of German repro of French silver. It is 2 7/8” diameter, 1 7/16” tall, and weighs 3.6 troy ounces. It is in excellent condition.
