The ashtrays were designed by French ceramicist Jean Luce for the owners of French Liners in the 1930’s.
SS NORMANDIE was launched in 1935. The ashtrays, in Art Deco style, were popular souvenirs, passengers would be as token on their trip.
The ash tray was tested and is silver plated.
