Vehicle Fitment

  • 2002-2006 Acura RSX Type-S (DC5, K20A2/K20Z1 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC I4, FWD, 6MT)
  • 2002-2005 Honda Civic Si (EP3, K20A3 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC I4, FWD, 5MT) — USDM
  • 2001-2006 Honda Integra Type R (DC5, K20A 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC I4, FWD, 6MT) — JDM
  • 2001-2005 Honda Civic Type R (EP3, K20A 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC I4, FWD, 6MT) — JDM/Euro

Fitment Notes

  • Manual transmission (MT) models only — does not fit automatic transmissions
  • Fits vehicles originally equipped with either open or helical (factory LSD) differentials
  • Vehicles with open differentials require purchase of 10x OEM ring gear bolts (Honda P/N: 90017-PYZ-000) separately
  • Includes speedometer driven gear — speedometer indication will deviate approximately 3% after installation
  • Position: Front differential
  • Factory set as 1-Way; can be reconfigured to 1.5-Way via cam plate overhaul (same unit supports both settings)

Features

  • Type-RS clutch-plate design uses precision coil springs in the pressure plate for smooth, low-friction initial engagement
  • Lower initial torque than conventional cone plate LSDs — 50 to 70% lower initial torque for reduced drive friction and improved response
  • 1-Way setting activates under acceleration only, ideal for FWD applications where throttle-off LSD lock causes understeer
  • Reconfigurable between 1-Way and 1.5-Way settings with a simple cam plate overhaul to suit different driving styles and disciplines
  • Low clutch plate pressure improves durability, reduces chatter noise, and extends LSD oil service intervals
  • Precision coil springs provide stable, consistent LSD engagement across all operating temperatures
  • Dramatically improves front-wheel traction during corner exit acceleration and power-on situations
  • Eliminates the single-wheel spin and torque steer common with open differentials under hard acceleration
  • Developed from Cusco's extensive motorsport LSD experience across time attack, circuit racing, and gymkhana

Product Description

The Cusco LSD 329 C is a Type-RS clutch-plate limited slip differential designed for the front differential of K20-powered Honda and Acura vehicles, including the 2002-2006 Acura RSX Type-S (DC5) and 2002-2005 Honda Civic Si (EP3). The Type-RS uses Cusco's proprietary coil spring pressure ring system, which provides significantly lower initial torque compared to conventional cone plate LSDs — approximately 50 to 70% lower. This lower initial engagement pressure translates directly to reduced drive friction, less power loss through the differential, smoother operation during normal driving, and less chatter noise that is common with aggressive clutch-type LSDs in FWD applications.

The unit ships factory-set in a 1-Way configuration, which is Cusco's recommended setting for front-wheel-drive vehicles. In 1-Way mode, the LSD activates under acceleration to distribute torque evenly to both front wheels, eliminating the single-wheel spin and torque steer that open differentials produce when power is applied out of corners. Under deceleration and throttle-off, the differential acts as an open diff, preventing the understeer that 2-Way LSDs can introduce during trail braking and corner entry in FWD cars. For drivers who want some deceleration locking effect, the same unit can be reconfigured to 1.5-Way via a cam plate overhaul without purchasing a different LSD.

This LSD fits vehicles equipped with either open or helical (factory LSD) differentials. Vehicles with open differentials will require the separate purchase of 10 OEM ring gear bolts (Honda P/N: 90017-PYZ-000) for proper installation. A speedometer driven gear is included with the LSD, and owners should note that speedometer indication will deviate approximately 3% after installation. Professional installation by a qualified drivetrain specialist is strongly recommended, as differential installation requires precise setup and torque specifications to ensure proper operation and longevity.
