Fitment Notes

  • Fits all Toyota 2ZZ-GE 1.8L DOHC engine applications including naturally aspirated and factory supercharged (Lotus Elise SC) variants
  • All 2ZZ aftermarket connecting rods have a wider-than-stock small end for maximum durability — this works fine with all 2ZZ aftermarket pistons
  • OEM pistons have a narrower pin boss area and must be machined slightly for clearance if used with these rods (most builders do not install aftermarket rods with OEM pistons)
  • 20mm wrist pin bore, bushed for full-floating operation
  • Compatible with turbo, supercharger, and nitrous applications
  • Requires professional engine assembly by a qualified builder

Features

  • Carrillo Pro-H beam design — the strongest rod design offered by Carrillo, capable of handling extreme cylinder pressures and RPM
  • Manufactured from Carrilloy proprietary chrome-nickel-moly-vanadium alloy steel meeting all VAR (vacuum arc re-melt) ASTM standards
  • Mar-aged heat treatment achieves ultimate tensile strength of 195,000 PSI with yield of 182,000 PSI while maintaining low notch-sensitivity and ductility
  • 3/8" WMC H-11 tool steel rod bolts for reliable clamping force under extreme conditions
  • 20mm wrist pin bore bushed for full-floating operation, reducing friction at high RPM
  • Rated to approximately 1,000 horsepower for high-power forced induction applications
  • 100% magnaflux inspected and hardness checked after heat treatment
  • Manufactured from oversized proprietary steel forgings for proper grain flow and guaranteed surface inclusion removal
  • Each set of 4 matched and balanced for consistent cylinder-to-cylinder performance
  • Proudly manufactured in the USA

Product Description

The Carrillo SCR5517-4 is a set of 4 Pro-H beam forged connecting rods engineered for the Toyota 2ZZ-GE 1.8L DOHC engine — a high-revving, variable valve timing powerplant found in the Toyota Celica GTS, Matrix XRS, Corolla XRS, Pontiac Vibe GT, and the Lotus Elise and Exige. With a center-to-center length of 5.433" (138mm), a 20mm bushed full-floating wrist pin bore, and 3/8" WMC H-11 tool steel rod bolts, these rods are rated to approximately 1,000 horsepower and represent a massive strength upgrade over the factory connecting rods for builders adding forced induction to the naturally aspirated 2ZZ-GE or pushing factory supercharged Lotus Elise SC builds to higher power levels.

Every Carrillo Pro-H rod is manufactured from Carrilloy — a proprietary chrome, nickel, moly, vanadium alloy steel that undergoes vacuum arc re-melting and mar-aged heat treatment to achieve an ultimate tensile strength of 195,000 PSI and a yield strength of 182,000 PSI. The rods are forged from oversized proprietary billets to ensure proper grain flow and complete removal of any potential surface inclusions. Each rod is 100% magnaflux inspected, hardness checked, and shot peened after heat treatment for maximum fatigue resistance. At just 448 grams per rod, the Pro-H design provides an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio ideally suited for the 2ZZ-GE's high-RPM character and 8,000+ RPM VTEC engagement zone.

An important installation note: all 2ZZ aftermarket connecting rods feature a wider-than-stock small end for improved durability under high loads. This wider small end works seamlessly with all aftermarket 2ZZ pistons, but OEM pistons have a narrower pin boss area and require minor machining for clearance. Most builders installing Carrillo rods will also be upgrading to forged aftermarket pistons, making this a non-issue in typical build scenarios. Whether you are building a turbocharged Celica GTS for drag racing, supercharging a Lotus Elise for track day dominance, or assembling a high-RPM naturally aspirated 2ZZ screamer, the SCR5517-4 delivers the Carrillo-quality strength, precision, and fatigue resistance that serious 2ZZ builds demand.
