Special features
Hold your coin under an ultraviolet light source to activate the photo-luminescent (glow-in-the-dark) technology, then move to a dark room to see the CN Tower and the Toronto skyline lit up at night.
Designed by Canadian illustrator Carl Wiens, the coin’s reverse commemorates the 50th anniversary (“50 YEARS ANS”) of the official opening of the CN Tower (“LA TOUR CN TOWER”) on June 26, 1976. The inner core features a view of the CN Tower overlooking Lake Ontario and dominating a contemporary downtown Toronto skyline, whose tall skyscrapers tower above an outline of the city’s skyline as it appeared in 1976. When the photo-luminescent (glow-in-the-dark) technology is activated on the colourized coin, the scene shows the CN Tower and skyline illuminated at night, reflecting Toronto’s vibrant energy. Additional silhouettes on the outer ring represent five decades of growth and architectural evolution, with the skyline in 1976 appearing on the left and the 2026 cityscape on the right—a visual record of Toronto’s transformation into a modern, world-class city. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
DID YOU KNOW?
Standing 553.33 metres (1,815 feet, 5 inches) tall, the CN Tower claimed the title of the world’s tallest freestanding structure from 1975 until 2007—it still reigns as the tallest in the Western Hemisphere.
PHOTOS:
Note that the photos I post in my listings are
all from my own inventory. However, for items like this one where the
products are brand new from the mint and are identical the photo posted
in the listing is a STOCK photo meaning that the photos represent
the item you will be getting. Photos are taken in natural light so
sometimes there's a slightly WARMER reddish or brownish tone to the
photos.....this is just because they're taken in front of a large window
in order to represent them to you as honestly as possible. Normally
there is almost no difference
between the photo you see in the listing and the actual product you are
sent. Certificate numbers (if shown in a photo) are an example of
something that will not be the same in the item you receive.
