The D7J (Д7Ж in Russian) is a vintage Soviet-era germanium alloy rectifier diode, known for its use in low-frequency power supplies and audio applications. It features a maximum continuous forward current of 300mA, a maximum reverse voltage of 400V and a typical forward voltage drop of less than 0.5V 

Germanium diodes D7 have a some unique characteristics, unexcelled by today's Shottky and ultra-fast diodes. The main quality is a very low forward voltage and slowed speed of closing. (Therefore D7 have a sizable reverse current). As effect is an absence of "claps" in commutation process and absence of hight-frequency harmonics in rectified voltage.

Vintage sound connoisseurs claim that rectifiers based on D7Zh diodes provide a "softer" sound for amplifiers compared to silicon diodes due to the absence of sharp transients ("pops") during switching and fewer high-frequency harmonics in the rectified voltage.

These diodes are sensitive to temperature increases above 50 °C (122 °F). Therefore, it is not advisable to design them near heating elements.
