Before DVDs in the 80s, there was the Home Video system with large sized discs:

 THIS IS A TWO DISC SET OF tHE SOUND OF MUSIC - by Rodgers & Hammerstein starring Julie Andres, Christopher Plummer, Richard Haydn, Peggy Wood, and Eleanor Parker

Each Disc Measures approximately 12 3/4"  x 14" 

 in New, still in the shrink wrap condition - untested (I don't have a player)
