Reed pen and brown ink, with brown wash and opaque white (oxidized), some areas deliberately rubbed with a finger or wet brush, h 136mm x w 283mm. The same woman apparently posed for this drawing and for the Nude Woman Seated by a Stove. She is recognizable by her hairstyle: it is not quite clear whether she is wearing a little cap or if her hair is done up in a bun. Here the art of life drawing and reaches a peak. Exceptionally well rendered is the suggestion of light that bathes the woman's warm, slightly sagging flesh.
