1800 large cent Style 2 hair. Good grade. S-212 R3 variety. A scarce 1800 variety!   This example has a cud on the obverse from the K-1 to K-3 on the obverse rim.  An unknown cud! Examining the State VI example of S-212 in the Mervis  Collection  lot 2736 one sees the obverse die crack extending from LIBERTY's forehead horizontally to the rim at the right. As it approaches the rim the metal rises and a small mound appears, the beginning of a cud now seen on this example in an enlarged manner from K-1 to K-3. In both cases the die crack line from LIBERTY's forehead is visible.  Minted when John Adams was president.
