This is a NO RESERVE listing for ONE NEAR MINT genuine Minolta Maxxum 7000AF (not 7000i, not 7Xi, not 700Si) replacement top cover salvaged from a non-working Maxxum 7000AF.
One of the weak areas on the first generation Maxxums like the 7000AF, 5000AF, 9000AF are the body parts. They were all plastic and prone to cracks, even the the 1970's. The flash mounts took a lot of impacts and often broke and the sides by the strap lugs were also prone to cracking at the strap lug mounts or the holes where the cover attached to the body.
So, if you have a working 7000AF that has a cracked top cover, here is your chance to fix it. I've done the replacement dozens of times in the past. It's a matter of removing a hand full of screws (don't forget the two in the front on each side of the Minolta logo plate), soldering five wires and then reinstalling the screws in their proper places (they are NOT all the same size) and you're done. Should take no more than a half hour with most of the time for the soldering part. If you are not handy with a soldering pencil, this job is not for you. Here is why I rate this near mint:
- It has the original "passed" sticker (many will no longer have it
- The "Passed" sticker has not shifted so there is no oval shaped sticker residue on the cover
- There are no cracks on the clear prism cover
- The clear prism cover has not yellowed
- the two blue buttons on the top are still the nice cyan color instead of the yellowed one on many of the covers
- The white arrows on those buttons are white and not yellowed
- The flash mount and connections are not worn
- The white paint type on the buttons is not worn off
- The Minolta logo plate is not cracked, does not have broken tabs and the white painted logo is not yellow
This top cover comes complete with all parts (no screws use the ones from your camera) shown It is in very good working vintage condition with no missing parts and no cracks. You will get one top, one Minolta nameplate and one metal display frame (if yours is bent), the plastic frame for the rear glass window along with a copy of the instructions that I created years ago when I was doing this replacement, when I was this country's number one private Minolta Maxxum seller and collector. Note these are the correct tops for all Maxxum 7000AFs even those with the crossed X Maxxum logos. They also will fit Dynax 7000 AFs (the Dynax did not have the Maxxum name on the top cover on the right side) since this was the same came as the North America Maxxum, but made for Europe. These covers will NOT fit the Maxxum 5000Af, or 9000AF, and they will NOT fit any 7 series Minolta Maxxum other than the 7000AF.
