This circulated stock certificate represents a piece of history from the United New Jersey Rail Road & Canal Company, offering a glimpse (with three nice vignettes) into the past of the transportation industry.  The holder of this stock purchased it when the company was a mere 10 years old and held the stock until 1928.  (Did he make any money?)  The United New Jersey Rail Road and Canal Company (UNJ&CC) was established in 1872. It was formed by the consolidation of the Camden and Amboy Railroad, the Delaware and Raritan Canal Company, and the New Jersey Rail Road and Transportation Company.
