One of the plates for printing Confederate Five Cent stamps was shipped to the Confederacy in 1862 aboard the Blockade runner Bermuda but was captured before reaching its destination. Later the plate was purchased by the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia. Private prints were made from this plate by Philip Ward in both blue and black.  Offered here is a block of four in blue...
