I purchased this new and then put it away as a collectible. It has been used, but it is in Good Condition and everything works. It was stored without a battery until now and the battery compartment is clean. I have installed a new battery and everything immediately seemed to work fine. 

This item was gently used and then stored away without a battery, so the battery compartment has no damage. When I installed a battery for this auction, everything came on and it appears to work fine. Comes from a pet free and smoke free home. Please see the photos, so that you can see the current condition for yourself. 

Note: This Tamagotchi is marked with "2004" on the reverse, but I think that Serial Number of 20207 means that it was manufactured in February of 2007. I could be wrong about that, but that is what I have read in my research.
