The front cover board has separated from the seam (see photo 2). On the back of the title page is a library seal and notation in pencil (see photo 4). Affixed to the inside of the rear cover is the library card pocket. Overall, the interior is clean, but some pages have small stains and foxing. All other pages are free from writings, marks or stains and are secure to the binding.

The book "Essays on the sources and mode of action of fever" by William Davidson is a comprehensive examination of the causes and propagation of fever. Davidson's work delves into the history and characteristics of various fevers, including typhus fever, and argues that it can only be propagated by contagion. He supports this argument by examining the progression of the disease in hospitals and comparing it to other contagious diseases like smallpox and measles. Davidson's analysis is bolstered by statistical data and analogous reasoning, leading to the conclusion that typhus fever is a distinct and highly contagious disease that can be prevented by limiting exposure to infected individuals.
