Turn your toy tricorder into a true prop replica!
This is a complete upgrade kit for the 1993 Playmates TNG Medical tricorder toy. Playmates did an excellent job with this tricorder toy, except when it comes to the electronics. There are only 2 lights on the actual toy and 3 sounds.
My electronics upgrade kit comes with 45+ coloured LEDs, which function just like the ones used in the actual screen prop. All of the circuit boards have been designed and assembled by me using professional manufactured circuit boards. The sound is very authentic and activates (along with the lights) as soon as you flip open the door. It automatically turns off when you close the door, just like in the show.

A little more about the features:
- The LEDs light up or flash in the same sequence as the original props were designed to do on the show.
- The main electronics come with a long lasting rechargeable LiPo battery system which can be removed when not in use. If you need extra LiPo batteries for longer away missions, you can purchase as many as you need from Amazon.
- A charging adapter is also included which shows you when the battery is fully charged.
- Note: The hand scanner requires a battery (not included)
A little about the assembly upgrade kit:
- A detailed YouTube Tutorial created by a friend of mine is available. You can just search YouTube for "Playmates Medical Tricorder Upgrade Part 1"
- There are also a couple of other good YouTube videos showing you the steps to completing this upgrade (highly recommended).
- There is a small set of electronics that fits into the handheld scanner with a full set of 8 sequencing LEDs plus a red flashing LED for the top of the scanner. You will need a battery for this to work (not included with kit). The YouTube tutorial covers the scanner upgrade in one of the video chapters.
- This upgrade (along with the aid of the tutorial videos) make this a fairly easy project. For anybody that has built plastic model kits before, this would be rated as an Intermediate Level project.
- The kit comes with 6 fully assembled circuit boards (no soldering required), rechargeable LiPo battery system plus charger, and a replacement set of hi-res graphics. You just supply the tools and time.
The finished upgraded tricorder is a perfect accessory for your cosplay outfit. It adds a level of authenticity to your overall look and will be the envy of the rest of your away team at any event.
Once these have sold, there will be up to a 2 month wait for me to complete another run.
Note: The Playmates tricorder toy is not included with this kit. If you do not have one of the original toys you can usually find one from another vendor here on eBay. It does not matter if the one being sold no longer works since the electronics will be replaced anyway.
