When installing new belts in this unit, I discovered the brake arm is loose (as seen in this listing's video), a wire is disconnected in the back, and the VU meters' wires were disconnected. I suspect the previous owner, a very nice old man and former Sony employee did some tinkering at some point in the last few decades.

I re-connected the VU meters, but I do not have the time and skills to do a proper repair to correct the other issues.

The unit powers on but it does not run. The new belt installation was abandoned when the aforementioned issues were discovered.

Cosmetically, there are some dings and the veneer is separating on the right side. It can easily be glued back together.

Some of the front trim is loose. Also very easy to re-adhere.

A triangle of veneer is missing on the front-bottom-left corner.

There are also some reel scars on the faceplate.

Selling for parts or repair.

Attention: This unit is being sold AS-IS. It is not fully-functional and there should be no expectation from the buyer that they will be receiving a working unit. I have described the known issues as best I can and believe that I have made it clear enough that this Sony TC-377 is not functional and is being sold for parts or repair.

Once again for those in the back: this Sony TC-377 is not currently fully-functional. It needs repair work to get running again. Do not buy this item if you want to take it out of the box, put a tape on it, and begin playing or recording. It won't work. You need to fix it. Alternatively, you can strip it down for parts, or use it as a paperweight if you want. But this unit is currently not functional and will not be when you receive it.

A Note on Shipping Insurance

Courier companies (UPS, etc.) have changed their rules for what they will and will not insure. The types of items not available for coverage include items deemed ‘vintage', ‘used’ and/or ‘fragile’, all of which describe this item.

While I am a strong proponent of insuring items, as I have seen the carelessness with which couriers treat parcels, in the case of this item, purchasing insurance will either be denied by the courier, or a waste of money as any claim will be denied, regardless of their culpability.

I will take all precautions I can when packing the item, and try to accommodate any particular packing requests, but coverage will not be purchased for the parcel. Honestly, I want to insure, but for the previously described reason, it's pointless or not possible.

“But what if the parcel is lost?”

That’s one trick couriers pull. Couriers will not allow insurance to be purchased for used items, but if they lose a parcel, they will only reimburse their $100 minimum because insurance was not purchased. “Should have purchased insurance”, they say.

Yes, I can ship overseas but do not be surprised when shipping costs are high. Shipping large items to Europe, Australia, South America, etc. is not like shipping a DVD, and therefore the costs will likely be in the hundreds of dollars.
