Through variations of the name Aronson were the successors of Rosenthal, Aronson & Co who began in Melbourne during the 1860-70s with David Rosenthal establishing a business at 15 Collins St. The Aronson brothers Saul, George & Norman all became partners during the companies operation from 1878 through to 1947. This 9ct Rose gold Masonic pendant features the square & compass Masonic symbol & weighs approx. 1.33gms. It is clearly marked with the Manufacturing Jewellers' Association of Victoria mark for Aronson with a flag facing either left or right with 5 stars. In this case the flag is facing to the left with the 9 for carat & the wheat sheaf also for 9ct first used in the 1880s. It is also stamped 02. It has a fixed bale & jump ring. C1920s.
