An original British Army Emergency Ration tin dated 5/55 (May 1955), still retaining the majority of its original contents.

Emergency ration tins were issued as part of British military survival equipment and were designed to be carried for use only in extreme circumstances. They typically contained a concentrated chocolate-based ration intended to provide quick energy when no other food was available. Examples retaining their contents are increasingly difficult to find today.

Details

• British Army emergency ration tin
• Made by C.F.E.D.
• Dated 5/55 (May 1955)
• Retains most of the original contents, which appear to be the original compressed chocolate ration
• Metal tin with printed instructions to the lid
• Weight: 225 g.

Condition: The tin shows some scratches, marks and general signs of age and storage, which is entirely consistent with these items. The majority of the original contents remain inside. As expected given the age, the contents are strictly for display/collecting purposes only and are not fit for consumption.

A nice and increasingly scarce example, particularly desirable with the contents still present, making it an excellent addition to a British Army ration, survival equipment or Cold War militaria collection.

Shipping

Items are usually despatched within 24 hours of payment. We do aim to get to the post on a daily basis but this is not guaranteed especially on the weekend.

Courier items may take longer as we need to book collection 24hours in advance. Couriers do not collect over the weekend therefore items finishing on a Thursday may not be collected until the following Monday.

If a Courier service is offered please note they currently do NOT deliver to all addresses or may incur an extra charge for remote areas. These include Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands, etc. In this instance you must opt for the alternative courier option or contact us for a price on shipping.

Some of our heavier / bulky items can be shipped overseas but price depends on location. Please contact us for a shipping quote if one is not specified.

A note to our New Zealand buyers - for some reason eBay do not display an option for postage to NZ so please use the same displayed cost as for Australia.

We are happy to combine postage on multiple items but please wait to be invoiced or request total on completion of bidding. It makes for more work if you pay for multiple items separately and we do not get refunded for our percentage of eBay's fees.

GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAMME - how this works?? We send items to a central warehouse here in the UK & from there the Global Shipping company process the delivery to the overseas address. This can be a lengthy process and Point 303 do not accept responsibility for the lead time as this is beyond our control. Items are fully insured.

NOTE: EBAY now charge us 'sellers' fees on our postage so where postage is chargeable on our listings the cost quoted covers a small amount to help cover this and our packaging costs, it does not reflect the cost of the postage stamp only! If you find this unacceptable then please refrain from bidding or leaving poor feedback ratings. We do sometimes make mistakes on postage charges due to estimating packing weight. If you feel you have been unduly charged for post then please do get in touch and we will investigate it further.

Terms of Sale

We are happy to accept returns within 14 working days. It is the buyers responsibility to cover the cost to return the item by recorded post unless the item is not as described or otherwise agreed. You must advise us first if you wish to return an item and use the eBay returns service.

If you are unhappy with your purchase please do contact us so we can try and resolve any issues.
