Here we have a rare Lord Strathcona’s shield made for Canadian schools 1905-07. The shield is made of copper from the H.M.S victory 1765 and the Foundroyant 1798 and mounted on an oak shield frame.
They were made for a fundraiser by the British & Foreign Sailors society and presented by Canadian Governor General Lord Strathcona to Canadian schools this one was in 1907.
These plaques would have hung in one room school houses across Canada. This one was found beautifully preserved here on Prince Edward Island Canada.
See the last photos where it has a write up about the plaque and its significance.
