Vintage five piece set of Apothecary Jars from the pharmacy of Harry W. Gruve, Ph. G. 305 S. George Street York, Pa. The exact age is unknown. Each jar has its own glass lid / stopper. They are in great condition for their age but do show signs of age, use, and wear.  The glass lids have some chips, roughness, and staining in various areas. There does not appear to be any chips or cracks to the jars. They could all use a cleaning. The bottom of the jars are marked March 31, 1891 Pat No 20656. There is some loss to the oxalic acid label, specifically around the skull and cross bones in the upper left corner. Without the Lids/ stoppers, the tallest jar measures approximately 8 5/8" tall, a base diameter of approximately 3 5/8", and a top opening diameter of approximately 3". The second jar, powdered alum, has a height of approximately 8.75", a bottom diameter of approximately 3 5/8", and a top opening diameter of approximately 1 3/8". The oil of wintergreen jar has a height of approximately 7 5/8", a bottom diameter of approximately 2 7/8", and a top diameter of approximately 1 5/8". The glycerin jar has a height of approximately 7 3/8", a bottom diameter of approximately 2 7/8", and a top opening diameter of approximately 2.5". The oxalic acid jar has a height of approximately 6 1/16", a bottom diameter of approximately 2.5", and a top opening diameter of approximately 2.125". This entire set has a weight of 5lbs 11oz.
