The VICTORY V VICTORY O-LYM-PICS label was saved when the VICTORY V factory at NELSON Lancashire England was closed and demolished in the 1970’s. It had been stored away since the 1930’s and the label on offer illustrates both the innovative designs and quality of printing carried out at that time. The origins of Victory V are most interesting. Thomas Fryer a Manufacturing Druggist opened a confectionery shop in Nelson,Lancashire, England in 1864 and started to produce lozenges, gums and pastilles. In the 1880's he was joined by a partner William Carruthers and they set up a Confectionery manufacturing company THOMAS FRYER and Co located in a building called VICTORY works. They developed many cough and throat remedies that became known throughout the world. From the late 1800's up until 1938 they heavily publicised their products using advertisements, magazines, trade signs and promotional packaging. The label measuring 4cm width X 7.75cm height is in a very good condition and it will make an interesting addition to a collection.
