This lovely Antique MZ Austria gold gilt floral porcelain trinket box has the two-headed eagle mark, indicating manufacture date of 1884-1909, J Pierce signature on the bottom, along with the watermark 1266 in the porcelain and what appears to be a faded signature near the readable J Pierce. The box is hand painted, has gold gilding, and is accented with piercings in the porcelain on the handle at lid and on the corners of the footings. Approximate measurements are 3 1/2 inches squarish with rounded corners and standing 3 1/4 inches to top of handled on lid. The center of the bottom of the box measures about 1 3/8 inches deep, and the two pieces, box and lid, weigh a total of about 6 ounces by my trusty postal scale. This small Victorian-style piece is suitable for any room and many uses. It is in very good, pre-owned antique condition with normal wear indicative of age. There seems to be some possible tape residue where the lid may have once been taped to the box. There are no chips, cracks or other damage noted. Family estate item.
