It conveys the wisdom of self-reflection—warning against letting one’s heart rush ahead while forgetting the natural path (Reason), or conversely, letting go of complex logic to free the mind in a state of Zen enlightenment. The item was actually used, so it does have some damage consistent with its age and use which adds to its authentic charm. With its striking ink brushwork and philosophical depth, this scroll is an ideal piece for a meditation room, a traditional tea room, or as a meaningful piece of Asian wall art.
