Rough Rider RR051, 4-Blade Orange Smooth Bone Congress, 3-5/8", brand NEW from Old Stock, thus the "Rider" not "Ryder" name.

The Rough Rider Congress design . . . the knife with a famous heritage, i.e., President Lincoln was carrying a 6-blade Congress with white pearl handles (very much like this one) when he was assassinated (see pic), and was known to perpetually carry a pocketknife.  Probably no wonder he carried this particular model, often considered a knife for store clerks and office professionals, with its smaller - more utilitarian blades, especially the Coping Blade which does not appear on many models.  Like its Sheepfoot cousin, of which there are two on this Congress, these blades are very useful for cutting out paper, and gaskets . . . thus many mechanics carry the Congress.

Plain, squared nickel silver bolsters.

No emblem/badge to cover any of those smooth bone handles.  Actually can't tell the front from the back in this Congress, but always kinda thought the Coping blade belonged in the back.

Never used, never sharpened, never carried, gently cleaned.

No cracks, handle gaps or chipped handles.  No rust, surface tarnish or spiderwebs.

Original tan box, with some minor tape mending, will be included; however, it is the wrong number, RR052.

One of Rough Rider's popular folding knives to actually carry, and a personal favorite design, closed length - 3-5/8".

Pictures are of the actual knife the buyer will receive.  Particularly good fit and finish, but there is some intensity of color mismatch between the front and back handles.

NOTE:  The Orange Bone scales show some character (aging) from 20+ years in storage.

NOTE:  My entire stock is “NEW” as in never used, but all of it is old, some 20 years or more.  Many of the glued boxes are coming apart and the lighter dyed handles, especially white and orange, are showing considerable age discoloration, and everyone might not think of it as “character”.  When it’s bad (IMO), I sell the item as a BLEMISH at a reduced price, otherwise, my regular prices are still some of the lowest on the Internet, which should encourage you to accept some of the "character" in my knives.

Blades are tight, yet open easily, then close with a distinctive snap, while lining up almost perfectly in their groove; there is some considerable blade rub, not uncommon in a Congress with four blades crammed in a small frame.  They do not have half-stops.  They are sharp right out of the box.  Smooth arced nail nick pulls.  The blades are an easy open.

Rough Rider quality rivals Case at a fraction of the price, and enables carrying and using otherwise collectible grade knives.
