Lovely interpretation of the classic Persian text.

I am not familiar with grading books but I would call the condition FAIR for age. One loose page near beginning of book. Some other pages coming away slightly. I have tried to photograph the worst parts. Minor signs of wear throughout. Condition of the lithographs very good.

The Edmund Dulac illustrated Rubáyát of Omar Khayyám is generally considered the high point of his artistry and was an immediate, enormous success. The Fitzgerald translation is the perennial favorite. Each page has two poems numbered through 110.

Edmund Dulac (born Edmond Dulac; 1882 –  1953) was a French-born, British naturalised magazine illustrator, book illustrator and stamp designer.

Dulac was a prolific illustrator and designer. His works include Stories from The Arabian Nights (1907) with 50 color plates; an edition of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest (1908) with 40 color illustrations; The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (1909) with 20 color plates; The Sleeping Beauty and Other Fairy Tales (1910); Stories from Hans Christian Andersen (1911); The Bells and Other Poems by Edgar Allan Poe (1912) with 28 color plates and many monotone illustrations, Princess Badoura (1913) and many others.

Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám is the title that Edward FitzGerald gave to his 1859 translation from Persian to English of a selection of quatrains attributed to Omar Khayyam (1048–1131), dubbed “the Astronomer-Poet of Persia”.
