Weapons System Officer Lt Col Stiles and his pilot in January 1972 were flying reconnaissance missions taking photos North Vietnamese armor that were coming out North Vietnam into Northern Laos, looking particularly for SA-2s surface-to-air missiles (SAMs). While taking photos of the SAMs they were shot down by one of the anti-aircraft guns guarding the SAMs (or so they thought). This is were 37 years later in 2009 in a twist in fate he was contacted by Retired Brigadier General Dan Cherry who informed him he had actually been shot down by Hong Mi a North Vietnamese MiG-21 pilot whom Cherry himself had shot down in 1972. This is were a very interesting story of the encounters of these three men begins. Please see the below article from Smoke Signal News:

The plane is signed on a base plate attached to the display stand

The model is built with a wealth of detail and concern for accuracy. It can be displayed setting on it's landing gear with canopies up or down.  It can also be displayed in flight mode on the autographed display stand.

The model measures approximately 9 3/4" long x 6 1/2" wingspan and when displayed on the stand it's approximately 5 1/2" tall and setting on it's wheels 2 3/4" tall.

BRAND NEW CONDITION

The plane comes packaged in its Original Hobby Master Box with all original accessories secured in it's Molded Plastic Container. It was all removed to take photos of the assembled plane with different options for this listing and then put back in the original packaging.
