Hello dear customers, up for your consideration is an authentic antique Imperial Tsarist silver and agate letter opener / paper knife. Stunning pice, the handle features a repousse silver rooster and traditional Russian folk-art knots motifs. 

Stamped 84 with Cyrillic mark for Khlebnikov /hardly readable/. 

In their folk fairy tales the rooster is associated with the sun, as well as good fortune and fertility. Roosters can be found all over many household items and often when there are two roosters with their heads together it was as a wedding gift to wish the bride and groom a good marriage.

Very good conditio some micro dings and mellow patina on silver due to age. Comes on original matched box. Please, be sure to view all photos  carefully as they are included as part of the item description.
