Large wooden perpetual wall calendar, 1950s This is the biggest calendar of this type that I have ever seen. I estimate that the linen date roll is over 16 feet long (nearly 5 metres)! The case is made from oak-veneered beech and plywood, which is finished in a golden brown varnish. The back is not veneered - it looks like plain birch ply. The day, date and month rolls are all printed on linen and protected by a glass window. The knobs are bronzed and knurled. There are two hanging brackets to the rear.
The case has numerous scuffs, scratches and marks and the veneer is cracked and lifting in places, but it is still fully intact and should be fine if handled carefully. Most of these veneer defects are shown in photos 13 to 17. The interior is very clean. The linen rolls are also very clean and tidy with no twisting or drifting off-line.
I've given it a wipe over with a restorative solution to freshen it up and it actually looks really impressive.
