Hematite Ammonite Fossil Pair from Atlas Mountains, Morocco

This specimen is a beautifully preserved Ammonite fossil from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, dating back to the Jurassic period. Ammonites were extinct marine creatures related to the modern Nautilus. Over millions of years, the original shell of this Ammonite was naturally replaced by Hematite, resulting in a striking metallic appearance.

The fossil has been cut and polished on the inner faces to reveal its intricate internal structure, while the outer shell has been left in its natural, unpolished state.

You will receive the exact matched pair shown in the photographs.

The Ammonite pair weighs 52g and measures 52mm x 40mm. (All weights and measures are approximate)

It is a beautiful fossil which would appeal equally to collectors or to display in the home
