A Shortland Smiths Barometer which has shown has been mounted to a sturdy wooden shield back with a horseshoe added to give it an equestrian theme.

I would say it has a good few years of age to it and that the barometer was then mounted etc by an amateur hand or possibly if not then the horseshoe was an extra addition by the original owner or similar.

The Barometer appears to be in working condition but it has been mounted with the 30 to Very Dry readings at the top and the makers logo to the lower right hand as shown.

The wooden mount is ready to hang with a recess to the reverse and apart from some general light ageing the item is in good condition as per the scans.
